JANET LEE
MEDIA & CREATIVE PRODUCER
I’m a media and creative production consultant who helps brands and organizations meaningfully connect with audiences through compelling storytelling and experiences. Prior to consulting, I previously worked at TED, Patreon and most recently VICE News.
Bio
I’m a multi-hyphenate producer with 15 years of experience spanning across media, podcasting, non-profit, the arts, and tech. As your conductor and composer, I nurture ideas from inception to completion, shaping them for maximum impact in a crowded media landscape. From developing podcasts to curating conference speakers to crafting smart content strategies, my expertise lies in understanding the 30,000 foot view of your goals and crafting a clear roadmap that will get you to the finish line.
Beyond consulting, I'm the Founder and Executive Producer of Thought Pot, a creative collective for AAPI creators & artists in Los Angeles. In 2019, I received the “Made in NY” Women’s Film, TV & Theatre Fund grant for my comedy short film series, 'Type A,' exploring the misadventures of Asian-Americans in New York.
Talk to me about: Why Monty Don is the world’s greatest gardener, how smell-o-vision can become a reality, the Three Body Problem series.
Services
Podcasting
I support both independent creators and organizations to help get their audio strategy off the ground from start to finish. This includes assembling top notch production teams, creating streamlined workflows and budgets, and collaborating with you to craft a strategic audio go-to-market plan that reaches the right audience.
Production & Project Management
Whether you’re a non-profit, small boutique agency, or legacy media organization, I specialize in producing diverse multimedia programs and campaigns tailored to meet your team’s objectives. I thrive on collaborative work, engaging with editorial, production, sales, and marketing teams to co-create impactful experiences for your audiences.
Programming & Content Strategy
In the battle for attention, a strategic content or programming approach that resonates with your audience's needs is crucial. Whether it involves crafting a collection of intelligent audio products throughout your network or curating an inspiring lineup of speakers who transcend corporate jargon, I can assist in shaping and implementing your vision to ensure it remains both fresh and relevant.
Curation & Community
We’re living in an era of content abundance, so establishing a meaningful community both on and offline is paramount. While search engines and algorithms excel at directing attention, nurturing a community that reflects your brand’s values still requires a human touch. I specialize in curating communities that embody your brand’s ethos, fostering engagement, authenticity and purpose. (Related: check out my personal project Thought Pot.)

Shout Outs
“Janet is an incredibly talented, thoughtful, and creative partner. She led programming for my tentpole event with WIRED to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and her attention to detail, can-do attitude, and ingenuity buoyed the team throughout the process. As a project manager, she is excellent at both overseeing the big picture and managing the smaller details. She is a joy to work with, a dedicated team player, and an asset to have on any team.”
Amanda Miller, Senior Director of Programming, Conde Nast
"Janet and I worked together across teams to find new and exciting ways for partners to support TED’s growing suite of editorial podcast and video programs. She’s not just smart and thoughtful, but also deeply passionate about her job in a way that pushes those around her to do their best work as well. I was always in awe of her readiness to jump at a challenge: she’d eye it up, figure out a plan of attack, and then gather support across departments to find solutions, push boundaries, and create meaningful content. She’s a true leader and collaborator and I couldn't recommend her enough."
Laura Segar, Director of Partnerships, TED
"Janet and I worked together at Patreon as leads for the podcast and video verticals, respectively. Immediately upon joining the team, it became clear that Janet is the real deal. She was tasked with serving as the podcast expert to represent thought leadership internally and externally at Patreon, a task she accomplished with aplomb. Janet is a true champion for diversity and inclusion, always identifying ways to challenge the status quo in order to provide equitable opportunities for creators from all walks of life. This is incredibly important work that naturally comes from within Janet thanks to her authenticity, passion, and good intentions."
